Join your GP practice Patient Group!
We have 60 GP practices in Wigan Borough. All the GP practices are required to have a patient group - called a Patient Participation Group (PPG).
We engage with all the PPGs in Wigan Borough. This includes listening and asking questions. Our "Continuous Engagement Cycle" posted below shows how we engage with local PPGs:
Members of the PPG work with the GP practice to put forward the patient view and to help improve the services that patients receive.
Whilst working with their own GP practice is their main purpose, they can also help us to understand what patients need, want and think about services, from broad topics like quality, to specific issues like A&E attendance or how we treat conditions like asthma.
To join your local PPG and start having your voice heard, speak to the Practice Manager at your GP surgery.
We are working to develop local PPGs
At the beginning of 2017 we asked local PPGs to complete a survey to find out how we might best support local groups. The following 'You Said, We Listened' document describes the feedback we got and what we have done about it.
One of the big things that came out of survey was the development of our Shape Your NHS Training programme. This training is FREE to any patients or residents (you don't have to be registered with a PPG) who might want to get involved! Click here for further details.
