Wigan Borough Clinical Commissioning Group is the statutory body responsible for commissioning local health services in Ashton, Leigh and Wigan.

We think that everyone in our Borough should get the best quality health and social care services possible and we know that this doesn't always happen.  Our NHS was planned in the 1950s.  We need to redesign it around the needs and lives of people today.  We must work together with our partners and residents to do this.

We also need to accept that we only have a limited amount of money and that that amount of money is going down.  In addition, as we continue to live longer and develop more complicated health and social care services more complicated health and social care needs, people will need to use health and social care services more and the overall bill will grow.

We need to make changes now, so that we can save money and still provide the services people need.

We are confident that by working with our partners and neighbouring CCGs we can provide better services that are easier to use and give positive patient experiences whilst also saving money.

To do this we are working on two big changes:

1. Integrated Care
Integrated Care is bringing all the health and social care organisations in Wigan Borough together to redesign systems to make them more joined up.

2. Healthier Together
Healthier Together brings all the CCGs across Greater Manchester together to look at how we can provide the best care - particularly in hospitals.
